The Meaning Behind Numinous

numinous (adj) an experience that evokes fear yet fascination, awe but attraction - that profound feeling of being overwhelmed and inspired.

It's an unusual name for a recruitment firm, I know.

I chose it because the word captures something I've always believed about technology leadership: the best roles should inspire you as much as they challenge you. They should feel significant, not just like another job title on your CV.

When a leader steps into the right role at the right time - one that actually stretches them, where they can make a real impact - that's when meaningful work happens. For them, for their teams, and for the organisation.

That's what I'm looking for in every search: not just someone who can do the job, but someone for whom the role represents something worth building towards.

It's a high bar. But CIOs building transformation programs don't need people who are just looking for their next step. They need people who see the opportunity and feel compelled by it.

That's what the name means to me. And that's the standard I hold myself to in every conversation.
